WONDERINGS

miniature artworks for jewellery collectors

By 2021, Ruth Tomlinson had become one of the UK's most distinctive independent jewellery houses, successfully establishing presence in the alternative engagement ring market and recognised for specialist bespoke pieces. As amazing as it was to see the business grow, the commercial success was pulling Ruth away from her art and design-led roots.

THE GAP I IDENTIFIED

I wanted to think of a collection that would speak to a distinctive, selective audience. One with discerning taste who enjoyed discovering unique artisanal creations.

WHAT I PROPOSED

I proposed we look at creating a high-end series of art rings aimed at serious jewellery collectors. They would be miniature artworks and Ruth would have full creative freedom to design and make, without commercial constraints.

The brand team developed the concept, naming this collected WondeRings and Ruth felt inspired to use sentimental gemstones collected over 20 years.

THE OUTCOME

The collection sold out and a couple of pieces were sought after to be homed in the permanent jewellery collection at the V&A Museum.

Since then, the RT team have further evolved the concept into multiple series’ of limited edition jewellery collections, fast becoming a unique part of the brand’s identity.
